Bootable / System file
- The file which are used for starting O.S is called as bootable / System files.
- 1. NTLDR: It is a Boot loader file, Loads the BOOT.INI file.
- 2. BOOT.INI: It is Boot initialization File, It has Boot Menu information of Different O.S
- 3. NTDETECT.COM : It Detects the NT Kernel file, Which controls both hardware and Software part.
- 4. Pagefile.sys : This is created for Virtual Memory to Increase the System Performance.
- NOTE: If any one of the above Files are Missing, the System will not Start.
- Open "My Computer"
- Open "C" drive
- Click "Tools" menu - Click on "Folder Option"
- Click on "View" tab
- Select the radio button "Show hidden files and folder"
- Uncheck the box "Hide protected operating system files"
- Click on "OK"
How to remove one of the O.S when two O.S Install in HDD ?
Example:
HDD has two O.S
1.Microsoft Windows XP ( Installed on "C" Drive )
2.Microsoft Windows 2003 ( Installed on "D" Drive )
(If you want to remove/hide Windows XP O.S)
NOTE : You can not remove O.S Opening System used to start the computer
- Right click on "My Computer"
- Click on "Properties"
- Click on "Advanced" Tab
- Click on "Setting" from "Startup and Recovery"
- Select Default Opening system Menu - Click on "Down" Arrow symbol
- Select "Microsoft Windows 2003 Server , Enterprise Edition "
- Uncheck the Check box "Time to display list of operating systems"
- Click on "OK"
- Restart the computer , Now your computer automatically start with "Windows 2003" O.S without displaying "Boot Menu" Options.
- NOTE: In future , if you want do not require "Windows XP O.S" , Delete "Windows" , "Program Files" and "Document and setting" folders from "C:" drive.
