How to install dual / multiple O.S in one HDD without data loss of existed O.S and Data

Dual Booting / Multi Booting :

  • Installing more than one O.S ( ex: Windows XP and Windows 2003 ) in one HDD.
Example:
  • HDD has four partition ( C: , D: , E: , and F: )
  • Drive "C" has some important data.
  • Now you want to install Windows 2003 O.S in the same HDD, without loss of Data and exited O.S ( Windows XP )
  • NOTE: It is not recommended to install two O.S ( Ex: Windows XP and Windows 7 ) in one partition ( C drive ).

Reason:

  • If you install any Windows O.S on partition ( C: Drive )
  • It will automatically create three folders
  • 1.Windows : It contains O.S files.
  • 2.Documents and Settings : It contains user's profile and desktop settings.
  • 3.Program files : It will contains file software which installed in that O.S
  • If you install one more O.S ( Ex: Windows 2003 ) in the same partition , that O.S also create same folder , so it overwrite previous folders and existed O.S may damage.
  • It is recommended to install one more O.S ( Ex: Windows 2003 ) on other partition ( D: , E: , F: )
Example : HDD has Windows XP O.S , Now you want to install Windows 2003 O.S
  • Change the First Boot Device as " CDROM " in the BIOS Setup
  • Insert any key to boot from CDROM ... (Press "Enter" Key)
  • Press "Enter" Key to setup Windows 2003
  • Press "F8" key to Accept Licensing Agreement
  • Select "D" drive ( If you want to install Windows 2003 O.S in "D" Drive )
  • Press "Enter" key

  • Select the option " Leve the current file system intact <no changes>"
  • Press "Enter" key.
  • Reaming Process as same like installing new O.S
